BELGRADE - HEALTHY CITY
PROJECT
DEVELOPMENT OF THE PROJECT
The Healthy Cities project is being developed through three phases, constituting 20 steps, according to instructions provided by the WHO-European Regional Office. The Belgrade - Healthy City Project was also developed through definite phases and steps.
PHASES OF DEVELOPMENT
Phase 1
began with the formation of a group of people – Project support group – committed to
integrated, coordinated, activities by institutions and individuals interested
in health and sustainable development. This phase concluded with adoption of an
initiative and Concept for the Project by the Belgrade Assembly.
Phase 2
began when the Assembly appointed a Project Steering Committee. This phase concluded
with allocation of responsibility for the individual activities defined in the
Strategic Plan.
Phase 3
is one of concrete action, and begins with work on developing public awareness of
health. The most important result of this phase is a healthy public policy,
which is being applied through the city government and the City Assembly and
among the participants in the Project.
